Knowing Our Enemy

Well, It has been almost a month and a half since I have been able to post here on  my blog. My family and I are now mostly moved in to tour new home in Lima, OH and I have assumed the pastorate at Garden City Christian Union Church. This morning was officially my second Sunday as their pastor. I began my first series of messages on The Believer’s Warfare with a message on Knowing Our Enemy, (a.k.a., Hatin’ Satan)

I believe that this is a foundational concept in the Christian life and that we need to see our lives as Christians at least in some measure as a battle. This idea is common in the New Testament whether it is Paul’s reference to it directly in 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 and Ephesians 6:10-18 or it is James and Jude and Peter defending the truths of Scripture in their epistles against the false teachers that were coming into the Church in their own day and have pervaded much of it in our own.

The first message, Knowing Our Enemy is the first step in that direction. Before we can fight we must know what we are up against. In Genesis 3:1-6 we get our first glimpse of the enemy as he slithers onto the scene and entices our first mother into a discussion of the motives and propriety of God’s command to abstain from the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. As we study his malice here we can begin to say with the Apostle Paul, We are not ignorant of his devices.

Come and listen to the audio of this message and don’t fall victim to his craftiness.
