God: Revealed!

God has declared Himself to mankind through the creation. The fact that
we exist points unmistakeably to a Creator who

  • existed before the creation and
  • is
    not of it and
  • has the ability to create it.

Common sense tells us that
it did not make itself. That is logically impossible. Just this is
enough information to make us accountable before God. Yet in His love
He has taken another step and revealed Himself in a special way,
through His Word. Even with this, man still rebels against that
revelation. We need more than just information about God. We need God!
What is your response to God’s revelation of Himself?

In Psalm 19 David shows us the revelation of God through the world and through the Word and then gives us his response to that revelation.  Psalms 19:12-14  “Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults.  13  Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression.  14  Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.”

He knows that his nature (as well as ours) is to reject that revelation on some level and that our response to it is never perfect obedience. In David, the most important thing that it generated was trust in God and reliance upon His goodness. He basically says, “I know I have messed up worse than I realize, (Who can understand his errors?). But he goes on to ask for forgiveness and strength to live in light of what he knows about God.

I pray that as you listen to this message that you would call upon God as David did and that He would reveal Himself in a deeper way to you as you submit yourself to what He has already shown you.
