Rejoicing in Grace, Steadfast in Purpose

On July 20th I had the privilege  of preaching as a candidate for the first time at Smith Creek Bible Church. I will return on August 10th and will find out some time after that whether I am to  be called as the pastor there.

The text that the Lord directed me to was from Acts 11, one that I had read a few days before I was called to be a candidate. The text is about Barnabas coming to Antioch for the first time as the heathen began to come to faith in Christ. Acts 11:23 When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord.

We see so much here about the Church and what Barnabas and eventually Paul did to build them up in the faith. It began with understanding and rejoicing in God’s wonderful grace! This is something that we can never understand too well. God’s favor upon undeserving heathens who would have happily continued on in their ignorance but were confronted by Grace as the disciples were scattered due to persecution. I don’t know if you can relate to this, but it is my testimony exactly.

Rejoicing in grace is what leads to steadfastness of purpose. Without that foundation we are running on our own power and will eventually exhaust our supply.  True Purpose can only come from a passion for God as we understand His grace in our lives.

I hope that you enjoy this message as you consider God’s grace which will motivate you to purpose to live  for Him!

Acts 11:19-24
Rejoicing in Grace, Steadfast in Purpose.

In Christ!
