The Sign of the Covenant

Wadhams Creek Sr. Center and a a result of this I have a new appreciation for his example of faith. Abraham is the figure most often used as an example in the New Testament. He is mentioned about 70 times and is given as the example of what faith looks like in Romans 4, Galatians 3, Hebrews 11 and James 2 as well as brief mentions elsewhere.

In Genesis 17 God says to him, “I am God Almighty, walk before Me and be blameless.” and then goes on to bring His promises to fruition in Abraham’s life. After 24 years of promise and reaffirming the covenant, God tells Abraham, that if he trusts him to circumcise himself and all the males that are a part of his household. Circumcision in the Old Testament is very similar to baptism in the New Testament and is often misunderstood as to its function and purpose. As we examine God’s initiation of this Covenant Sign in the life of Abraham we will learn more about God’s covenant keeping nature and our responsibility before Him as members of this Covenant of Grace.

I hope that you are blessed by God’s faithfulness and realize His graciousness as you listen to this message.

In Christ!
